  • Chi-X Europe Ltd (Chi-X) was the first live pan-European equity Multilateral Trading Facility and continues to be the largest MTF by market share and value traded. Chi-X has established itself as the ‘Faster, Cheaper, Smarter’ alternative to traditional exchanges.

  • Measurements by a Trading Participant in October 2008 demonstrated roundtrip latency as low as 0.4 milliseconds (ms) when co-located with Chi-X.

  • This contrasted with average latency of 6 ms on the LSE, 13ms on Euronext, 37ms on Deutsche Borse and up to 43ms on OMX. Chi-X’s core system can handle up to 115,000 messages per second without any degradation in latency.

  • Chi-X is based on the principle that the user pays only for services consumed. Our trading tariff consists of a 0.30 bps charge for aggressive executions and a 0.20 bps rebate for passive executions, with no added complexities. Real-time market data is free of charge.

  • Despite changes made by some exchanges to their pricing structures, Chi-X remains a more cost effective trading venue than the exchanges, as shown in research by The Tower Group in December 2008.

  • Now, Chi-X is shifting its focus to ‘Liquidity, Innovation and Service’, making Participants’ views a priority and responding to meet their requirements. Chi-X regularly communicates with Participants and invites feedback via its account managers, trading notices and other avenues.
