LONDON – 21 May 2007 – Caplin Systems Ltd., the real time web company, today announced the launch of Caplin Trader, an out-of-the box web trading application that enables banks to build multi-product trading portals in FX and fixed income. Caplin Trader offers a cost effective alternative to the more traditional sell-side to buy-side offerings, enabling a broad range of FX and fixed income instruments to be traded online.
Paul Caplin, CEO, Caplin, says: “FX and fixed income are rapidly moving towards electronic trading and the web is playing an important role. In FX, online trading portals are considered essential and the fixed income market is now following that trend. Although most major investment banks already have online trading portals, these prototypes are often not robust nor functional enough to meet customer requirements. Banks need truly scaleable and functionally rich online portals in order to cost-effectively extend online trading to their mid- to low-tier clients.”
Caplin Trader is a sophisticated, interactive web application using Ajax technology, which is easy to customise and extend. Caplin Trader offers seamless integration with existing transaction systems, and delivers an intuitive trading interface to users’ desktops. Customers can access Caplin Trader from any standard web browser, with nothing to install and no changes to security settings or firewalls.
Caplin Trader’s drag-and-drop Ajax framework comprises as series of standard components including product grids, trading panels, trade blotters, trading tickets, product and instrument search, charts and news displays. Banks can also create their own components, customise appearance and configure the trading logic to meet their precise requirements.
Caplin Trader has been in development for two years. It is built on the existing Caplin Platform and benefits from its proven functionality, low-latency, and reliability.
Caplin Trader’s ubiquitous deployment, ease of use and rich functionality enables banks to target the widest range of users. With Caplin Trader, banks can build advanced trading portals that more efficiently serve, strengthen and extend customer relationships. As a result, banks can improve their margins, quickly introduce new products to market, and have a credible and compelling alternative to multi-dealer portals. Caplin Trader also supports white labelling to enhance business relationships.
Paul Caplin adds: “For the past seven years we have been in the forefront of real-time web technology. During this time we have worked alongside a raft of visionary blue-chip investment banks, which have helped us understand the need for sophisticated online single-dealer trading portals. By introducing Caplin Trader, we enable banks to gain and retain online market share.”
Caplin’s technology serves over 80,000 end-users in top tier financial institutions such as Citigroup, Merrill Lynch, Royal Bank of Scotland, UBS, Royal Bank of Canada and ABN Amro.
