2005 Systems for the Securities Industry Awards

Sponsored by:

Friday 22nd April 2005 at the BT Centre

The Conference

Following the introduction by Stephen Pinner, Managing Director of Goodacre, Bob Humphreys (BT) welcomed the audience and Guy Sears (APCIMS) talked about MiFID and the impact of the new regulations. “I was relieved that topics were not at all technical but of real interest. All the speakers were excellent and despite John Motson's comments about Scottish football, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.”

During the coffee break, exhibitors and delegates had time for networking.

After the coffee break, Michael Wilson (SkyNews) introduced the Euro in the City Referendum. Gerard Batten (UKIP), John Stevens (Liberal Democrats), Mary Honeyball (Labour) and Dr. Charles Tannock (Conservative) put their parties views on the Euro.

Awards Presentation

John Motson, the BBC’s chief sports commentator, announced this year’s winners of the Securities Industry Awards. After sharing interesting experiences and funny anecdotes (“I thought I was famous, but when I arrived, a man in the bar asked if I was the bloke who did the cricket on the radio!”) of being a football commentator, it was time for the silver envelopes and to announce the winners.

The Awards are highly valued, not least as it is the system users themselves who determine the winners”.
